The plan for the Hietaselkä area includes 95 MWp of industrial solar power, 60 MW of energy storage solutions and a maximum of 45 MWp of wind power. The size of the entire area is about 220 hectares.
The Hietaselkä area of Utajärvi will initially be licensed for the use of a solar power plant and energy storage. Later, the plan is to plan the area in its entirety as an energy production area, and the partial master plan to be drawn up for the area is intended to enable the construction of a maximum of four wind turbines, solar power plants and other industrial activities.
The Hietaselkä project area is located in the municipality of Utajärvi, about 3 km southwest of the municipality centre.
