Electricity production at Skarta Energy’s Pälkäne solar park started in sunny conditions

The electricity production of Skarta Energy’s solar park built in the Pälkänevesi industrial area started in the last week of August. The park will be commissioned in stages. At the first stage, about 1 MVA is connected to the network. Once completed, the entire park will produce 4.5 GWh of renewable solar power. The solar farm is the first renewable energy production plant in the Pälkäne region.

The final inspection of the building supervision of the solar park built in the Pälkänevesi industrial area was carried out during week 35, and now the park is connected to Elenia’s electricity network. Lumme Energia is responsible for electricity sales. The project has progressed on schedule. The municipality of Pälkäne and Skarta Energy signed a letter of intent on the construction of a solar park in June 2022. Construction of the park began in February 2024 and electricity production started in August 2024. The entire park is scheduled to be completed during 2024. Solarigo Systems Oy was responsible for the construction of the Pälkäne solar park.

"The significance of the Pälkäne solar park is greater for us than its size. The lessons learned from the Pälkäne project are important to us in terms of planning ongoing and upcoming projects. We will follow the production of the park with great interest and at the same time continue to build other ongoing sites and map new areas," says Mika Paloranta, CEO of Skarta Energy.

The solar park is also of great importance to the municipality of Pälkäne, which aims for carbon neutrality.

"The solar park project supports our journey towards a carbon-neutral Pälkänne excellently. Solar power has enormous potential, and we see it as the best opportunity to produce renewable energy in Pälkäne, where hardly any suitable areas for wind power have been identified," says Pauliina Pikka, Mayor of Pälkäne.

Skarta Energy aims to produce 800 MW of solar energy by the end of 2028. Skarta Energy is currently building two more parks. The larger of the parks will be built in Isosuo in Utajärvi. The maximum output of Isosuo Park is 102.5 MWp, and a solar farm with a panel capacity of 13 MWp will be built in Callio in Pyhäjärvi.
