Project details

A hybrid plant with a solar power park of about 75 MWp and an electricity storage facility of about 60 MW is planned for the Kaartola area of Tyrnävä. The project area is located approximately 6 km west of the centre of Muhos and 9 km east of the centre of Tyrnävä. The general planning and permitting of the project are underway.

What happens next?

The project was granted a planning requirements decision on 23 March 2026, and the decision became legally binding on 8 May 2026. Building permits for the solar power plant and the substation were granted on 6 July 2026, and the permits became legally binding on 24 July 2026.

A separate building permit was applied for the battery energy storage system (BESS) to be constructed in connection with the solar power plant. The permit was granted simultaneously with the building permits for the solar power plant and the substation. The permit for the battery energy storage system also became legally binding on 24 July 2026.

The project’s water permit application was submitted to the Licensing and Supervisory Authority in spring 2026. A decision is expected during 2026.

Construction is expected to commence at the earliest in summer 2027. The objective is to complete the solar park by the end of 2028.
