The plan for the Hietaselkä area includes 95 MWp of industrial-scale solar power and 60 MW of energy storage solutions. Space has also been reserved in the area for four wind turbines.
The Hietaselkä project site is located in the municipality of Utajärvi, approximately 3 km southwest of the municipal center.
Construction permits for the solar power plant and energy storage facility have been granted for 2026. A permit under the Water Act is being sought for the project, with the processing estimated to take until the summer of 2027. Construction could begin in late 2027, with the power plant completed by the summer of 2029.
