Finland’s largest utility scale solar park located in Utajärvi Isosuo, with a capacity of 106.8 MWp is constructed on a decommissioned peat bog production area. The total area of solar power plant is about 150 hectares with 170,000 double-sided solar panels installed. The power plant produce approximately 97 GWh of renewable solar electricity per year, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 12,000 households.
The investment decision for the project was made in December 2023 and construction began at the beginning of 2024. The first part of the park is connected to the grid, and electricity production started in May 2025. The construction of the solar power plant has been completed at the end of 2025. A 20 MW/40 MWh battery storage facility will also be built in connection with the park.
