Skarta Energy surveys production potential for solar energy in Loviisa

On Monday, Loviisa Town Council approved a letter of intent that could allow for the start of the construction of solar power plants and energy production as early as 2023.

The Business and Infrastructure Centre of the Town of Loviisa and Skarta Energy have already carried out a preliminary survey of the suitability of land areas owned by the city for solar energy production.

The basis of the survey work was the Near Energy concept developed by Skarta Energy. The Near Energy solutions make use of locally produced solar and wind power, energy storage and battery technology, and in the future, also electricity produced using hydrogen.

“Currently, the primary issues are to do with energy availability and pricing. We want to be involved in supporting municipalities in the construction of regional energy self-sufficiency. Near Energy allows us to produce stable and affordable electricity for the long term. Near Energy® brings vitality and tax benefits to municipalities, as well as increasing regional independence and improving domestic security of supply,” explains Executive Vice President Vikke Saarelainen of Skarta Energy.
