The municipality of Pälkäne has signed a letter of intent with Skarta Energy

The municipality of Pälkäne has signed a letter of intent with Skarta Energy Oy to survey and develop renewable energy solutions for Pälkäne. The objective is to evaluate the potential for construction of the infrastructure required for solar and other renewable energy.

The first element of the development project this year is a review of the suitability of Pälkänevesi business area for the construction of an industrial scale solar power plant. Based on a preliminary assessment, the area would be an excellent site for a solar power plant, the construction and opening of which would significantly support the municipality of Pälkäne in achieving its objective of carbon neutrality by 2030.

“We want to be involved in supporting municipalities in building regional energy self-sufficiency. Locally produced solar and wind power can provide us with renewable and emissions-free energy, with which we can perhaps make use of battery technology and in the future possibly even hydrogen solutions. We are excited to get started on cooperation with the municipality to find suitable solutions for the Pälkäne area,” explains Executive Vice President Vikke Saarelainen of Skarta Energy Oy happily.

The municipality of Pälkäne has committed to achieving carbon neutrality and implementing the climate programme of southern Pirkanmaa, one significant trend in which is energy production and consumption.
